April1,2012 Junior Round Robin

Everything was pleasant enough, we had some great tennis, a teriffic BBQ thanks to Brett Munro and his many helpers, and a wonderful atmosphere. Then all of a sudden, and quite fittingly I might add, considering the summer we have had, the skies opened and it was all over.

It was a bummer to end due to the wet weather, however before hand there was some fantastic matches and even managed to get a result in division one.
In this event Liam Feely and Jack Pollard won there respective pool's and met in what shaped as a nailbiting final. We had the attacking game of Liam against the brick wall of defence of Jack. In the end it was the "wall" who won through with Jack taking the event with a five-three final victory.

Earlier, Jack won through, undefeated in his pool. Next best was Saffron Howard and the greatly-improved Mitchell Latham came a very admirable third in this company of player.

Liam was just as convincing in his pool where he won by a clear margin over Harry Kooros and Tom Lindsay who finished equal second.

In division two Dominic Sutherland was the standout player of the day. He won his pool in the morning with a cliffhanger one point over the tough Gigi Dunn. Sarah Jameson finished an admirable third.

Dominic then returned late afternoon and was awaiting a final's opponent when the skies opened. Justin Murphy had the inside running in the other pool, however Hanan Chidiac was still well in proceedings when play was aborted.

Division three had just the one draw and it was by far the tightest of all the pool's of the day. When play was abandoned Cameron Poulos and Thomas Natovski were equal first, however every body in the pool was still a chance. Austin Lockhart, Wil Golja, Charlie Hill and Alexander Kolovos, as well as Cameron and Thomas were playing a fine standard indeed.

Division four was a two horse race when the rain came. Luke Pierobon was in first spot with Gabe Kolovos close behind. Taking nothing away from Luke, however it was magnificent to see Gabe in such great form and doing so well. Gabe had an almighty health scare at the end of last year, so it was fantastic to see his great shots and the smile on his face throughout the day.

Well done to all the guys and we look forward to our next round robin later in the year.
